Christian Education

The Christian Education Committee, together with the Pastor, seeks opportunities to proclaim God's message of reconciliation to the members of the congregation and their children.

To fulfill this mission, the committee members and Church School superintendent oversees all areas involved in adult and youth Christian education programs on Sunday morning, mid-week, and Vacation Bible School.  This includes teacher calling, background screening, training recognition, evaluating and selecting curriculum and guest speakers, decorating for youth classroom themes and maintaining teaching supplies.  The committee supports the Confirmation class, presents youth stewardship and worship participation opportunities and conducts yearly fundraisers, such as the rummage sale for youth mission projects and Sunday School classroom improvements.  It also oversees the application process and selection of a recipient for the Burchett Scholarship and recognizes high school and college graduates yearly.  Along with the Youth Group Director, the committee promotes Heartland Presbytery summer camp, Logos National Youth Conference, mission projects, Super bowl sub sandwich fundraiser, 30 hour famine for World Vision and other youth programs and activities to encourage youth participation in the life and ministry of the church and community.

The committee meets monthly to carry out the ongoing responsibilities, records minutes of meetings for reporting to Session, and keeps the congregation informed of activities through bulletin and newsletter articles.  The goals and responsibilities in the Christian Education Committee Policies and Guidelines are reviewed and updated as needed in the spirit of building Christian relationships.
